Opening Theme
Aired in Japan on Sky-Perfect TV October 16, 2000 through January 8.
2001. There were 13 episodes.
"Denji Endo" is still used to destroy the Dark Destruction Corps kaijin however the effects can now be shown, Kikaida's arms glow. The glasses Jiro normally wears on his forehead are infrared lenses allowing him to see the heat traces given off by Dark robots.
The animation is based on Ishinomori, Shotaro's original drawings, and so goes back to an older style.
The music for the animation is very different from the live action show's themes. The opening theme is an instrumental, "Theme For Gemini". Gemini is the name given for Jiro's incomplete conscious circuit. The ending theme "Destiny" is recorded by Yui, Horie who provided the voice for Komyoji, Mitsuko.

Some of the differences between the live action series and the animation:
1. There are no androids in the animation, just robotic monsters and the cyborg Hakaida.
2. In the live action series Mitsuko helped her father make Jiro/Kikaida. In the animation she knew nothing about her father's secret project nor did she know anything about Professor Gill and the Dark, until after her father's disappearance. At first she is afraid of Jiro.
3. In the live action series Jiro/Kikaida knew his purpose was to defeat the Dark. In the animation Jiro has to learn this.
4. In the animation Jiro does not use his guitar to announce himself, only to entertain children and as an expression of his grief.
5. Live action henshin phrase: "Change! Switch on! 1,2,3!". In the animation Jiro either says "Switch on" or nothing, as he crosses his arms and presses the henshin (transformation) switches on his shoulders.
6. In the live action series Jiro drives his own motorcycle with the sidecar on the opposite side of Kikaida's Sidemachine. In the animation Jiro drives Sidemachine.
7. In the animation the only combat technique Kikaida gives a name is "Denji Endo" and most of the time he doesn't even say it, he just does it.
8. In the animation Kikaida's arms glow when he uses "Denji Endo".
9. In the animation Jiro's conscious circuit is given the name "Gemini".
10. In the live action series children knew Kikaida was their friend, in the animation children (and animals) are afraid of Kikaida. The animation is a darker series, with Jiro even more hurt by the knowledge that "he" is really "kikai", just a machine than in the live action series.
11. Sidemachine was an important part of the live action series, the animation makes little use of this "character".
12. The live action series was more violent, the Dark killed more people than in the animation, in which the Dark focuses mostly on trying to destroy Kikaida.
13. All the robots in the animation were made by Doctor Komyoji under the direction of Professor Gill.
14. In the animation Professor Gill is not Japanese.
15. Mrs Komyoji is in the animation.
16. In the live action series Dr Komyoji's first son is named Taro, in the animation Ichiro.
17. In the live action series Gold Wolf has an incomplete conscious circuit. In the animation Golden Bat does (there is no Gold Wolf).
18. The animation tells us that Dr. Komyoji's personal name is Dan.
