Dr. Komyoji

Robotics genius Komyoji, Nobuhiko is abducted by "Daaku Hakai Butai", the Dark Destruction Corps (DCC) and forced to design destructive robot monsters as part of the DCC's plans for world domination. Doctor Komyoji secretly made Kikaida, for the sole purpose of destroying the DCC. (He also made Kikaida-01 which he hid inside a statue, programmed to activate when Japan was in grave danger). Komyoji means "temple of hope and light".

The Komyojis

In the first Kikaida episode Doctor Komyoji's lab was destroyed by fire. Doctor Komyoji survived the fire and escaped from the DCC but he suffered from amenesia. The doctor had no memory of who he was or why the DCC wanted him but he knew he was being persued and ran whenever he suspected trouble. Unfortunatly more often than not he ran from his daughter Mitsuko, his son Masaru, and his robot Jiro, not knowing who they were. It is NOT true that every episode features Kikaida rescuing Doctor Komyoji, in fact after the first episode the doctor is not seen again until the sixth (although Green Mantis does impersonate him in the second) and he usually runs away before the DCC notices him. There are actually only three or four times when Kikaida rescues him. In episode 11 Doctor Komyoji repairs a badly damged Jiro, even though he still has not remembered his own name.

Doctor Komyoji is eventually recaptured and forced to make Hakaida, a cyborg designed to destroy Kikaida. Kikaida cannot destroy Hakaida because Hakaida has Doctor Komyoji's brain in his head. Destroying Hakaida would kill the doctor.

Doctor Komjoyi made six robot "brothers":

Jinbei - his first, a clown. Jinbee was destroyed by Pink Tiger.

Gold Wolf - incomplete, but functional. Destroyed by Kikaida.

Kikaida-01 - hidden in a statue for three years, until needed.

Kikaida - made to defeat the Dark Destruction Corps.

Bitter Orange Snail - tricked into making by the Dark while still suffering from

amnesia. Destroyed by Kikaida.

Hakaida - made (under the influence of drugs) to destroy Kikaida.

Dr. Komyoji

Doctor Komyoji was played by Izu, Hajime (b. July 6, 1918).
